Charcoal Drawing

I chose to draw the paper towel roll on the stand because in my last drawing I didn't really get to see it. I started sketching the base layer in with pencil and then when I got all of it sketched out I began to shade in the areas that were the darkest with the charcoal. After I had done that all that I did was go over the baselines of a pencil with a thick layer of charcoal and I began to drag out the charcoal from inside to the edges. I finished this masterpiece by adding more value to the shape of the roll so that it actually looks like a roll instead of a tube.
